Cockroach Control
Gel baits, growth regulators and non-repellents, matched to the cockroach species you actually have.
Service Overview
Cockroaches do more than annoy. They spread bacteria, their allergens can trigger asthma, and they contaminate food preparation areas. Supermarket bug bombs and surface sprays usually kill only the cockroaches you can see and push the rest deeper into hidden voids.
Benefits
- • The species identified before any product goes down
- • Gel baits and insect growth regulators that break the breeding cycle
- • Non-repellent barrier at subfloors, weep holes and roof voids
- • Treatment placed in cracks, crevices and cupboard voids, not sprayed over everything
Risks of Delay
- • Cockroaches spread bacteria through food preparation areas
- • Cockroach allergens can trigger asthma
- • Bug bombs and surface sprays push the rest deeper into hidden voids
- • A single female German cockroach can produce hundreds of offspring within months

- 6-month warranty on standard residential treatments
Cockroach species we treat
Identifying the species comes first. An indoor German cockroach infestation needs a different strategy from large outdoor species such as American or Australian cockroaches.
| Species | Where they hide | Appearance and behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| German cockroachBlattella germanica | Kitchen cabinets, behind fridges, dishwasher motors, microwave housings, warm appliance electrics. | Small, light brown, two dark stripes behind the head. Breeds only indoors and multiplies quickly. Feeds on crumbs, grease and starches. |
| American cockroachPeriplaneta americana | Subfloors, drains, sewer connections, damp basements, commercial kitchens. | Large, typically 30 to 40mm, reddish-brown. Prefers warm, humid spots and can glide or fly in warm weather. |
| Australian cockroachPeriplaneta australasiae | Subfloor spaces, loose bark, woodpiles, garden beds, perimeter weep holes. | Dark brown with yellow shoulder margins. A strong flier that comes inside seeking moisture and warmth. |
| Smoky Brown cockroachPeriplaneta fuliginosa | Tree hollows, roof voids, wall cavities, gutters, dense foliage around the house. | Uniform dark mahogany to black. Dries out easily, so moves inside in hot, dry spells or heavy rain. Drawn to outdoor lights. |
| Oriental cockroachBlatta orientalis | Cool, damp subfloors, drainage pits, concrete slabs, mulch beds against foundation walls. | Dark brown to shiny black. Robust, slow-moving and flightless. Thrives in dark, damp areas. |
Indoor breeders vs outdoor invaders
Indoor breeders: German cockroaches
They live and breed inside, close to heat and moisture such as fridge compressors, ovens and sink plumbing. A single female can produce hundreds of offspring within months.
- Our approach
- Repellent sprays can scatter the population into nearby rooms, so we use high-palatability gel baits with IGRs. These disrupt the moulting cycle so nymphs cannot reach breeding maturity.
Outdoor and peri-domestic invaders
American, Australian, Smoky Brown and Oriental cockroaches nest in subfloors, drains, garden beds or roof voids and enter through weep holes, unsealed doors or plumbing penetrations, often during extreme weather.
- Our approach
- A protective barrier around the entry points, using microencapsulated non-repellent insecticides outside and targeted crack-and-crevice dusting in roof cavities.
Cockroach patterns in the Hunter
Humid coastal summers speed up breeding and push large flying species, such as American and Smoky Brown cockroaches, towards house lights and indoors.
Heavy rain and wet subfloors force ground-dwelling species, such as Oriental and Australian cockroaches, up into wall cavities and living spaces.
Local construction such as timber subfloors, weep holes in brick veneer and ceiling voids gives foraging cockroaches shelter and easy entry.

Products matched to the species
We treat the species you actually have, using gel baits, insect growth regulators (IGRs) and non-repellent treatments to control indoor breeders and to keep outdoor cockroaches from getting in.
Our 3-step cockroach treatment
Species and harbourage inspection
We find harbourage areas and moisture sources and confirm the species before any product goes down.
Gel baiting and IGRs
Professional-grade gels and growth regulators go into the cracks and crevices where cockroaches feed and shelter, to break the breeding cycle.
Subfloor and cavity barrier
We treat subfloors, weep holes and roof voids with long-lasting non-repellent formulations to reduce re-entry from outside.
Preparing for your treatment
- Wash up, clear the benchtops and put away or cover food.
- Remove pet food and water bowls.
- Empty the cupboards and drawers under the sink and around the fridge and stove.
- Skip bug bombs and surface sprays beforehand. They scatter cockroaches and can put them off the bait.
After the visit
Do not spray or wipe over the gel baits, and avoid other insecticides in treated areas. Normal cleaning of benchtops and floors is fine. You may see more cockroaches for a short time as the treatment flushes them out of hiding. This is normal.
