Spider Control in Warners Bay, Lake Macquarie

The call-out

This customer contacted us to control outdoor webbing spiders at their Warners Bay property, in the Lake Macquarie area. They asked for an outdoor treatment only.

Inspection findings

I started with an inspection around the property. It is a two-storey house with a back shed, a large yard, a pool, an outdoor BBQ area and a kids' play area. I noted all hazards before continuing. I found webbing spiders around the fence line and on the house downpipes.

Treatment

This was an early morning job, starting at 7 am. I used a Flowzone electric sprayer, which is quiet and easily reached the fascia of the second storey. For this job I used an instant-knockdown synthetic pyrethroid, which gives a fast result and up to 3 months of outdoor residual protection.

Recommendations

I recommended the following to keep spiders under control long term:

• Install breathable weep hole covers to keep pests out while allowing airflow.
• Book a maintenance spray every 6 months to keep the outdoor barrier in place.
